Experience Cleveland’s Hot Slaw & Art Festival
We love to have fun in Cleveland, whether it’s rafting on the river, hitting a local brewery or attending a special community event like the upcoming Hot Slaw & Art Y’all Festival. You can do all these things and more on a moment’s notice when you live in a community of new homes in Cleveland TN!
The slaw festival honors the newly designated (and first-ever!) State Food of Tennessee: Hot slaw! If you’ve never heard of it, hot slaw is made of shredded cabbage flavored with a unique combination of mayo, mustard and “secret sauce.” It can be served as a side dish or a topping for burgers, hot dogs and barbeque.
Hot slaw was created at the Star Vue Theatre in Cleveland TN. When you come to town, you’ll find it on the menu at many of our local restaurants. That’s how much we love it!
This year the festival will be held in downtown Cleveland on April 11 from noon-7 p.m. The festival area surrounds the courthouse, bordered roughly by Central Ave., Ocoee St. and First St.
Enjoy live music and dance performances while you browse artist booths and indulge in good food and plenty of hot slaw! There will also be street performances, chalk artists, a hot slaw hot dog eating contest and amateur and pro “Slaw Off” cooking contests. With a name like “Hot Slaw & Art Y’all,” you know you’ll have a good time!
You can be at the festival in less than 10 minutes from your new home in The Abaco.
